The steady growth of the healthcare industry combined with the resources at local universities and colleges has led to a growing Life Sciences Industry in San Gabriel Valley, including jobs in bio-medical research, medical device manufacturing and pharmaceutical manufacturing. There are currently more than 700 bio-tech companies totaling 25,000 employees in the San Gabriel Valley.

Additionally, San Gabriel Valley is home to many support networks such as the Pasadena Bio-Science Collaborative, Innovate Pasadena, Innovation Village Pomona, and Innovate Claremont.
