Annual Johnson's Island Masonic Memorial Day Service

On Sunday morning every Memorial Day weekend, the Masonic Lodge Oliver H. Perry No. 341 of Port Clinton, Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, performs a Masonic Memorial Service in honor of the Masons who died at Johnson's Island Federal Prison while being held prisoner there during the Civil War. The Masonic ceremony coincides with a Memorial Day service of the Johnson's Island Association, which for the last couple of years has worked with Oliver H. Perry very closely to organize the event in which Oliver H. Perry Masonic Lodge, the VFW, local dignitaries, clergy, and other organizations participate.

General Masonic attendance at the event has grown over the years and the event is regularly attended by Grand Lodge Officers, District Deputies, and many brethren from Ohio and other states.  Other Masonic groups represented, Order of the Eastern Star Port Clinton Chapter No. 267.
