The Women’s Health program includes the following services: Family Planning, Perinatal Case Management, Pregnancy Related Services and Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening

Family Planning services are designed to support families in planning and spacing their children and to improve the health of women so that with pregnancy the potential for a healthy outcome for the mother and child is improved. Comprehensive health care services are provided to women requesting contraception, preconception counseling/appraisals, treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, nutritional counseling and numerous other services related to promoting the health of women.

Perinatal Case Management For Dougherty and Thomas Counties only – connects low-income pregnant women to health care providers for prenatal care, assists the expectant mother with obtaining the services of a pediatrician in preparation for delivery and follows an established plan with periodic reassessments to identify support services needed throughout the pregnancy.

Breast & Cervical Cancer Screening provides physical examinations, mammography and/or Pap smear screening and follow-up evaluations to a target population of women 40-64 years of age who meet the low-income financial criteria.

STD – Sexually Transmitted Disease Program – Oversees testing, treatment, and management of common STD’s in local health departments. The program also oversees treatment protocol orders, conducts program audit and quality improvement services in all clinics.
