What is Aikido? Aikido is a nonviolent art of selfdefense from Japan developed by Morihei Ueshiba. Aikido uses the opponents energy against themselves. Aikido employs dynamic circular motion to blend and lead the opponent into a throw or joint lock control.
As instructors Senseis Crotty and Wadahara share a unique bond. They both practiced together under Master Instructor Rod Kobayashi, Kancho (founder) of Seidokan Aikido. They both were awarded the rank of Godan in 1994 from Kobayashi Sensei. Sensei Crotty and Wadahara were chosen to be co-chief instructors of the Aikido Institute of America under Kancho Stewart Chan after Kobayashi Senseis passing in 1995. They continued to train, teach seminars, administer tests and provide leadership for the next sixteen years.
