About Baker County Family YMCA

The YMCAs strength is in the people we bring together. We have a foothold in eight different neighborhoods within our five-county area. In each area we are united with other organizations to address the root cause of problems, preventing many of them on the front end. Research shows the more development opportunities young people experience in their daily lives, the more likely they are to engage in positive, thriving behaviors, such as succeeding in school, helping others, and maintaining good health.
YMCA programs that support Strong Families include: Childcare, PrYme Time (before and afterschool care), teen and camp programs, Adventure Guides, outreach programs and youth sports.

The Y is a powerful association of men, women and children from all walks of life joined together by a shared passion: to strengthen the foundations of community. With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y nurtures the potential of every youth and teen, improves the nations health and well-being and provides opportunities to give back and support neighbors.

The Y is, and always will be, dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected and secure children, adults, families and communities. Every day our impact is felt when an individual makes a healthy choice, when a mentor inspires a child and when a community comes together for the common good.

The YMCA has been serving Americans for nearly 160 years, and here on the First Coast, records show the YMCA was started in 1908. At that time, the YMCA was located in downtown Jacksonville on the corner of Laura and Duval Streets. We now have 13 membership facilities, one resident camp, one charter elementary school, 40 school-based child care sites, two facilities for people with developmental disabilities and three youth development campuses.

Though weve grown and evolved, one thing has remained constant: our mission. It is our reason for being and a driving force behind our cause to strengthen community.
