Lisa Valdes Romero, Founder of SMASH, Vegas Stiletto Fitness, and Project SMASH is a military wife, a mother, and a grandmother. A Las Vegas native, Lisa grew up as a competing gymnast for Fern Adair Conservatory of the Arts Las Vegas where she also trained in ballet, tap, and jazz. Later as an adult, she trained in ballroom and belly dance. Her love for performing on stage grew as she danced and choreographed for a performing Las Vegas show band called, “Suave”, which was managed by her father at the Las Vegas Tropicana Hotel.  During this time, Lisa also directed the dance troupes “Latin Desert Girls” and was a salsa performer for the Sin City Salseros performing Salsa Group.

Her love for teaching dance started with the opportunity given to create a dance program for a Las Vegas recreational center for at-risk youth. Having the freedom to teach what she wanted, she created dance programs for preschoolers, salsa & Bellydance for kids. She also started the basic tumbling program, and jazz/hip hop for kids. She was awarded & recognized by Clark County, NV Parks & Recreation for her dedication to dance.  She later moved to Miami, FL in 2001 and provided dance and cheer programs for Goodlet Park theater in Hialeah, Florida.   In 2005 she started SMASH, School of Martial Arts, Salsa, & Hip-hop back in her hometown, Las Vegas. SMASH was recognized by Senator Reid for conserving cultural dance classes. By 2008, SMASH was changed to School of Modern Arts, Salsa, & Hip-hop to focus more on dance and fitness. In 2009, Lisa met her military husband, Rob, at SMASH who walked into SMASH to try kickboxing & Salsa classes. Soon after, SMASH was moved to San Antonio, TX in 2010 and Lisa & Rob married in 2011.

In San Antonio, SMASH dance fitness classes were born and offer fun recreational dance fitness classes for kids and adults. SMASH studio provides Zumba, MIXXEDFIT, Hip Hop Cardio, Vegas Stiletto Fitness, Cardio Kickboxing, Twerk and Tone, & more! SMASH also provides dance classes for kids like Tiny Dancers, Hip-hop, Breakdancing, Salsa Kids, and K-pop (Korean Hip-hop). SMASH offers more than 100 programs a month at their boutique studio and is partnered with two San Antonio school districts providing dance classes at schools for NISD and Harlandale.

The Romeros now reside in San Antonio, Texas but travel back & forth from San Antonio to Lisa's hometown, Las Vegas. In 2014 SMASH opened up a non-profit 501c3 organization portion called Project SMASH.   Project SMASH offers dance and fitness classes for local shelters, children homes, and rehabilitation centers in both San Antonio and Las Vegas.  We all know the effect dance and fitness can provide for everyday people, imagine what it does to those who have gone through trauma. We are dancing and teaching for a cause!

Our SMASH mission is to help youth & adults achieve their fitness goals, teach our instructors to give back by sharing their own talents with others and give our students the opportunity to use their energy in a positive outlet through the expression of dance & fitness.  We work hard to accomplish this through SMASH, Project SMASH, & VSF.
