Professional Inservice Topics

HCI Care Services offers resources and continuing education opportunities for:

        •  physicians
        •  nurses, home health aides, and hospice aides
        •  social workers
        •  spiritual care providers
        •  bereavement counselors
        •  nursing care facilities

Our Institute is a professional outreach arm of our organization. The Institute offers continuing education opportunities on hospice-related issues to healthcare professionals. In addition, the Institute educates the public on end-of-life issues and caregiving concerns. Providing quality end-of-life care takes specialized knowledge. HCI Care Services offers courses and programs taught by professionals certified by the:

       •  American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine
       •  Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association
       •  Education for Physicians on End-of-Life Care
       •  End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium


Professional services are available to select groups of healthcare professionals. If you would like to arrange an in-service for a group of healthcare professionals, the following topics are available.  Contact hours and CEUs are available for many of these programs. Contact Mary Hall, resource coordinator, at (515) 333-4247; or, request an in-service online.

Programs for Clinical Professionals

For each of the following programs, certificates of attendance will be provided for health care professionals who attend the entire program. Please note: a minimum of 30 days is needed to schedule a program with CEUs. 

In accordance with the Iowa Board of Nursing, each program listed below may be offered for 0.1 CEUs for nurses. The programs listed here are appropriate for continued education. For Iowa licensed health care professionals, it is up to the discretion of the licensee to choose relevant programs. These programs provide 1.0 contact hours of continuing education.
