Minor Leagues

Peoria Sports Complex is not only the spring training home for the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres but functions as the year-round player development headquarters for each organization as well.  Along with minor league practices, workouts and games on the fields at all times of the year, player personnel operations such as organizational meetings, first-year player drafts, and player rehabilitation also occur within each team's clubhouse building at Peoria Sports Complex.

The Mariners' clubhouse was renovated in 2014 and is over 56,000 square feet and contains over 400 lockers for players, coaches, and trainers. It has nearly 3,000 square feet of dining spaces, over 1,110 square feet of media workspace and a 5,600 square foot performance center. The training amenities include hydrotherapy equipment with four plunge pools and a therapy pool.  The building has rooftop solar panels and has achieved LEED Gold certification.

The Padres' clubhouse was also renovated in 2014 and is nearly 61,000 square feet with a 6,900 square foot rooftop patio. The performance center is almost 4,500 square feet and the training facilities also have 4 plunge pools and a therapy pool. There are 8,500 square feet of administrative office space and while solar power is not a part of the facility, the building has also achieved LEED Gold certification.

As an overview of the professional baseball calendar, once spring training concludes at the end of March, Extended Spring Training begins and segues into Arizona Rookie League, which plays throughout the summer.  Once rookie ball shutters at the end of August, Fall Instructional League ramps up in the early fall and wraps up in time for the Arizona Fall League to get underway. Peoria hosts the Javelinas, comprised of a co-op of players from several different organizations in addition to Mariners and Padres prospects.  Fall ball finishes in mid-November, at which time the slowest period of baseball activity is introduced as winter league play at Peoria Sports Complex begins in far-off locales such as the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Mexico and Australia.  Both the Padres and Mariners will host winter camps of varying length and structure through the new year and before you know it, pitchers and catchers are reporting for spring training again.

However, game, scrimmage and practice schedules for Extended Spring Training, Arizona Rookie League, and Fall Instructional League are frequently subject to change by the player development staff of the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres and cannot be provided by Peoria Sports Complex.
