Small Bore Silhouette

Metallic silhouette shooting is a target shooting discipline that involves shooting at metal cutouts representing game animals at varying distances.  The chickens are placed at 40 meters, pigs at 50 meters, turkeys at 77 meters, and rams at 100 meters.

The rifles are split into categories by weight, so that the heavier target rifles with bull barrels are not competing against lighter hunting rifles.  The two classes for this venue of shooting are small bore rifle light (sport rifles) and small bore rifle heavy.  Any sight is allowed on the rifles.  Any .22 long rifle ammo can be used, but No hyper velocity loads are allowed, such as stingers.

The course of fire is 60 shots offhand, 15 at each bank of animals.  Youth are encouraged to shoot off the bench the first few times.  The cost of a match is $5.00, but new shooters shoot free the first time.  Shoots are held the second and fourth Saturday of each month and forth Saturday of each month at 10 a.m.  Range opens at 9:00 a.m. For practice.
