Senior Classes, Activities and Support Services
A variety of classes, activities and senior support services are offered on a daily basis at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center. Most activities and classes are free, open to join at anytime. For more information about Senior Classes and/or Senior Support Services download a brochure.
Senior Transportation
The City’s Senior Dial-A-Taxi Program offers service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to qualified residents 60 years or older. Must be registered with a photo identification card. Service boundaries include Mission Viejo and Laguna Hills City limits and six additional satellite destinations. Customer cost is $5 per one way trip within approved service area.
Volunteer Opportunities
One of the enjoyable aspects of retirement is having time to socialize and offer service/talent to the community. The 150-200 active volunteers at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center enjoy each other, serve program needs and assist other organizations through special projects.
Register for an opportunity to volunteer. Please call (949) 470-3062 to request volunteer project help. Also, please consider some of the following volunteer opportunities:
- Serving senior meals
- Delivering meals to the homebound
- Leading/playing cards or games
- Office/computer/record keeping
- Making/answering phone calls
- Teaching a class/workshop
- Entertaining
- Working with kids
- Making crafts/decorations
- Joining our community service projects
Senior Citizens Activities Committee
Know the Leaders Serving You
The Senior Citizens Activities Committee receives input from the community regarding senior citizen programs, needs and services. The Committee also provides information and recommendations regarding facility needs at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center. A member must be 55+ years of age to serve and is appointed by an advisory vote of the Community Services Commission. You are welcome to attend the meeting of the Senior Citizens Activities Committee which is held on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 10 am at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.
