HCC of Rural Missouri supports the training of our future health care professionals at the Live Well Community Health Centers.  Our providers and clinic staff serve as teachers and mentors for health professions students during their clinical training.

Rotations in nursing, medicine, dental and behavioral health may be available depending on provider schedules.  In addition, high school and undergraduate students working with the West Central Missouri AHEC programs may inquire about shadowing and internship opportunities.  West Central AHEC is a regional center of the Missouri AHEC system and provides health care exploration and preparation for students in an effort to “grow our own” health care providers for the future needs of rural communities. To schedule a clinical rotation or inquire about shadowing and/or volunteering in the clinics, please contact Stephanie Taylor at stephanie@hccnetwork.org or call 816.617.2353.

HCC/AHEC is collaborating with M.U. and the Missouri Health Professions Consortium to:

  • Increase the capacity of training sites in rural counties for Allied Health Professionals (specifically OTA's).

  • Recruit and train rural health care providers to serve as clinical fieldwork educators.

  • Strengthen the employ-ability of students upon graduation and keep them retained at the rural sites. We are hopeful to create a model that can be duplicated in other areas. To achieve these goals, we need fieldwork educators to participate in our training, and take students next fall.

Participants will receive a certificate for four hours of free CCC'S/CEU's upon completion of the training.   We also have funding available for stipends for those who participate in the training, complete an electronic survey and then take students in the fall of 2017.
