Author Jim Olsen writes, "The original idea behind the writing of this story was to document a period in my life for the benefit of my sons with their future families. The town of Loyalton, Clover Valley Lumber Company and logging camp life were a big part of my early years. The type of logging operations employed by Clover Valley Lumber Company and the camps are gone forever, but the fond memories linger on. Interest in this project grew as I talked too and interviewed more people. The result is a combination of my memories and experiences, as well as that of my father, my mother, and my sister. In addition, there are stories told to me by former employees of Clover Valley Lumber Company, and former residents of the various camps. This is a labor of love and is dedicated to my family, all our camp- dweller friends and contributors."
