The Mohawk Valley Stewardship Council (MVSC) was formed in 2009 and acquired the the historic White Sulphur Springs Ranch on October 20, 2010.  However, even before acquiring the ranch, the MVSC was so concerned about the condition of the historic buildings they received permission to reroof and seal the ranch house to prevent further damage from the weather.  After acquiring the ranch in 2010, the MVSC performed more extensive repairs to further preserve the ranch house until sufficient funds could be raised for a full restoration.

The ranch house is not the only significant feature on this historic 163 year old property. In 1882 an artist's rendering of the property captured the unique warm springs flowing from the mountains on the property into swimming pools that were used by travelers and guests at the ranch house when it was a hotel and stage coach stop from 1858-1907.  For most of the 20th century, Plumas County residents have enjoyed naturally warmed spring waters flowing into the community swimming pool. While the warm spring waters still flow, the pool and bath house no longer meet current use standards and must be replaced.

When fully restored, the ranch will offer a small museum, hiking and biking trails, ethno botanical gardens, an amphitheater for events and the historic warm springs swimming pool and bath house that for years has served as a gathering spot for local residents and travelers.
