About the Learning Center

The Bryan McKay Eddington Learning Center provides one-on-one reading tutoring and homework help to K-12 students throughout the community. The tutoring is provided as a public service from the city, as an ongoing part of the community’s commitment to enhance basic literacy skills of all our citizens.

The Learning Center reading tutors are community volunteers trained to assist students improve their reading skills. The Bryan McKay Eddington Learning Center is frequently referred to by various state officials as a “model for community-based literacy programs in the state of Utah.”

The Learning Center will help students with homework in math, science, history, reading, social studies, art, and other areas. Students have access to computers, reference materials, calculators, supplies, and grade-level reading materials to accomplish homework, projects, and other school assignments.


Locating the Center

The easiest way to find the center is to take the elevator, adjacent to the front desk in the library, to the basement and turn left. 

Learning Center Rules

To participate in the services offered by the Learning Center, students must be enrolled in kindergarten or higher to be unaccompanied by a parent or caregiver. Students must be respectful of other students and staff while in the Learning Center. If a student is caught cheating or stealing they will be asked to leave the Learning Center until arrangements can be made between the student's parents and Learning Center staff.

English as a Second Language


The Learning Center offers an evening class taught 2 times a week by trained and qualified instructors for English as a Second Language (ESL). These classes are also provided at no cost to participants and convene Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. For more information please contact the center.
