The Dance Centre of Northwest Ohio Dress Code

Female students are required to wear a solid colored leotard.  Please no prints or patterns and no costume type leotards.  They are required to wear suntan or light toast tights or light pink tights (“ballet pink” or “theatrical pink”).  If the leotard has a skirt attached or a rhinestone or embroidered motif, that is acceptable.  They are also allowed to wear ballet skirts (for ballet class) and “dance” shorts (only for jazz and tap classes).  Jazz pants, Capri pants, “gym” style shorts, bike unitards and leg warmers are not allowed.

Male students are required to wear black jazz pants or black athletic shorts with a plain tee shirt.  Tap shoes, jazz oxfords or ballet shoes should be purchased in black for boys.

DANCE SHOES:  Pink ballet slippers for ballet.  Tan tap shoes with the ribbon tie or the buckle shoes for the preschoolers and beginners.  Tan tap shoes with the strap across the ankle or “oxford” style tap shoes are for the more experienced and teen/senior tap students.  Tan jazz slip on or “oxford” style shoes for jazz class.  Please remember:  tap shoes are fitted more like a street shoe.  Ballet slippers and jazz oxfords should be fitted like a glove.  Keep in mind that the student’s foot may perspire and with wear will stretch if the shoe is leather or canvas.

Please do not hesitate to ask if uncertain about the dress code.

Dance shoes should not be worn to and from class or on cement.

Note:  It is very important that the students abide by the Dress Code.  If students are not prepared with the proper dance attire they will not be able to participate.
