Hiking & Biking
Take To The Trails.
Whether blanketed in snow or blazing with color, the mountains and valleys surrounding Grizzly Ranch are something to see.
Explore the virtually limitless trails and varied terrain on foot or mountain bike—or horseback, like the early settlers.
Back roads and country lanes are ideal for heart pounding road bikes or more leisurely excursions on single gear cruisers.
Thanks to the nonprofit Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship, there are many mountain biking trails throughout the Lakes Basin (now called the Gold Lakes) area, which is also a favorite of hikers, trail runners and fisherpeople.
There are over 5 miles of hiking trails onsite at Grizzly Ranch, accessible to owners and Wolf Tree Cabin Guests. Trail map for the Lake Basin Recreation Area is located here. Additionally, there is a Plumas County Hiking Guide that can be found here.
Lake Davis, just a few minutes up the road from Grizzly Ranch is home to the Lost and Found Gravel Grinder Bike Ride which entails 30, 60 or 100 mile bike ride. Also nearby is the Downieville Classic.
Not feeling up for a 30 mile trek? Let Eco Bike Adventures take you and your family on a bike tour that everyone can enjoy. Their bikes are solar-powered allowing everyone to stick together, regardless of biking experience.
Trail maps and rentals can be found at Howling Dogs Bike & Ski in Graeagle.
Kayak rentals are available just up the road at Lake Davis' J&J Grizzly Store.
