MULTI TONY AWARD-WINNING MUSICAL SET IN GLAMOROUS, SEDUCTIVE 1940'S HOLLYWOOD
MUSICAL HOMAGE TO 40’s CLASSIC FILM
The creative team from the triumphant production of FOLLIES returns, mounting a multi Tony award–winning musical about a disillusioned writer and his screenplay. Is it the movie detective who is forever haunted by the one who got away – or is it his author? A swinging jazz score brings this clash of silver screen fantasy and Hollywood reality to vivid life.
City of Angles is the rarest of musical comedies; one that is not only loaded with music and written in the contemporary jazz idiom, but also filled with sidesplitting comedy. Set in the glamorous, seductive Hollywood of the 40′s, the world of film studios and flimsy negligees, the show chronicles the misadventures of Stine, a young novelist, attempting a screenplay for movie producer/director, Buddy Fidler.
Playwright: Larry Gelbart Lyricist: David Zippel Composer: Cy Coleman
“There are plenty of musicals with clever lyrics… some offer clever books… a handful even manage clever melodies… but City of Angels is the rarity that has all three.” – The New York Times – Supported by
