Plumas County Office of Education
Classes & Lectures
The Prevention Department visits schools regularly in Greenville, Chester, Portola and Quincy to educate Plumas County Youth on the dangers, risks, short and long term effects of substance abuse. However, kids aren't the only ones with questions and that is why we offer classes and lectures to anyone curious. We go to parent organizations, youth groups, colleges, and any venue or group that wants to understand the effects of drug and alcohol abuse, etc. It is important to be able to recognize when your loved ones are in danger and to know how to respond. It is our goal to fill this gap.
We educate participants using real life experiences and a variety of tools and resources to show the physiological, social, short term and long term ramifications of these decisions. It is our goal to empower today's youth with the tools necessary to make better choices. We give them options and alternatives more than the old "just say no" that can often times be easier said than done when faced with less than ideal circumstances.
We do travel to surrounding areas including northern California counties and Washoe county areas in Nevada.
