Artist in Residence at Platte Clove Preserve
Each summer the Catskill Center hosts several artists at our cabin at Platte Clove Preserve. This rustic cabin is located atop a stunning 60' box canyon waterfall, in the middle of more than two hundred acres of hiking trails, multi-tiered waterfalls and old growth forest.
Since the late 1800s artists have been inspired by the Catskill's scenic beauty. Home to the Hudson River School of artists, America's first true artistic movement, landscape artists such as Asher Brown Durand, Frederic Churchand Thomas Cole were inspired by the beauty of the Catskills and Hudson Valley and influenced by romanticism.
